My Pain His Glory

Guest Blog by Charlotte Hudson

My name is Charlotte Hudson. I was born in Kentucky, married my husband in 1965, and moved to Charlotte after living in the US Army in Germany.

I have two boys and two grandchildren.  I was in a family who kept everything within their family and did not believe in sharing, which was the opposite of me living in an alcoholic home where conflict and drama were a way of life.

I knew to keep all inside in this family, so I did not know what to do but write after my father-in-law died in a car accident and my Mother-in-law six months later died from cancer.  My husband and sister-in-law were in their own grief and pain, so they could not share, then began to write.

I kept these writings until 2024 when I met a friend whom I went to church with 40 years ago at my chiropractor. She had written a book, and I began to share what I wrote in 1987. She said let me come out and take them home.

After returning, she said, "You have got to do something about all this; so many people are hurting and in pain and not sharing their innermost thoughts." So she began working with me. She knew the editor, April, Monica, and the publisher, and I wanted to quit so many times but was encouraged to keep on.

I want this book, My Pain for His Glory, to reach hurting, dysfunctional people, those in pain and with nowhere to go, so I can point them to the WAY, Jesus.

Are you held captive by your grief of loved ones? Do you watch family members trapped in the depths of a glass bottle of alcohol or are trapped with end-of-life news from a cancer diagnosis?

Are you watching, feeling, and experiencing all of this turmoil, and yet you are hiding pain so deep it is drowning you? Do you feel you have no strength left, but you pray for a way out, wondering if He is there?

This realization crashed on me for nearly three years, making my grieving so much more in-depth and leaving me in a complicated mess. My world was turned upside down, and I was headed straight to the bottom.

How can one walk uprightly with the Lord when you lack stability, direction, and hope? How can one find God in their extremities? I always knew I could pray and that God was there for me, but I needed to talk and share my pain to get the swirling thoughts out of my head. The solution? Writing! How can something as simple as pen and paper bring clarity to such a lost soul? The answers came through writing, and my hope rose.

As my hands flew across the keyboard in an attempt to express my pain, I found His healing Hands entering and surrounding me with His love. My heart collected these, and they became my psalms.

My Pain for His Glory shares prose, thoughts, and poetry, expressing my emotional journey to find strength and healing with the Lord. In this book, you will find:

Grief to help and healing

Belonging instead of banishing.

Real love instead of fear.

From a Fan:

I’m someone who has had a lot of pain in my life. I tried to forget about the pain until a trigger or memory would allow it to resurface often. Throughout the years of my life, medications and therapy only scratched the surface and, quite honestly, never helped, and to this day, every day is a struggle with depression and anxiety.

Charlotte, through reading your book, My Pain for His Glory, and hearing about your journey and your incredible faith in God has given me hope and tremendous gratitude for the tools you provide in your book. I will reread this book many years to come when I need a glimpse of what to do in my journey. I’m a somewhat new Christian, and you are a wonderful sister, friend, and inspiration in Christ. I know your book will touch many people who are hurting and suffering and have their own journey.

One day, when we see Jesus Christ, there will be no tears, pain, or sadness with him in Heaven. I’m so beyond grateful for you. I believe God sent you to help me with my journey of forgiveness and understanding of my pain. You have shown me through your book and your journey that it’s possible for someone like me.

Thank you.

Much love,

Your Fan!
